Stanley Ellis
A message from the Project Art Works Tuesday Studio:
“It is with great sadness and love we say goodbye to our dear friend, Stanley Ellis, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday 3rd March 2024 (aged 80).
Stan was a prolific artist and had been a member of the Tuesday Studio at Project Art Works since 2015 during this period he made hundreds of paintings recognisable by layers of dynamic brush strokes and synergetic colours. He applied the same forceful energy to his drawings and sculptures, fully immersing himself in the process until he said, ‘finished’ and then moved on to the next piece of work.
Making art was a big part of Stan’s life, a way to express a spectrum of emotions without judgement and a way to connect with people. Stan was always a friendly welcoming host to visitors; the first to make new volunteers feel safe and valued by just being himself.
Stan also loved motorbikes, magazines, Elvis, shopping, and his birthday. He had a playful sense of humour and was more than often smiling. Stan made many friends through Project Art Works and beyond; we thank Stan for his friendship, we will all miss him dearly, and cherish memories made forever.”
